September is Healthy Aging Month

More than 20 years ago, September was named national Healthy Aging Month, a time set aside to focus attention on the positive aspects of growing older while encouraging people to live their healthiest lifestyles. It’s so important to take personal responsibility for our health from every angle be it physical, mental, emotional, or even financial. It’s never too late to start taking health seriously and making changes to our daily routines that lead to better wellness overall.

Our society often casts a negative light on the process of aging, but we believe aging is a beautiful thing that can be done with grace, verve, and passion. Every day of life is a gift, and an opportunity to live well, find small joys, enjoy relationships and hobbies, and make healthy choices that lead to a longer life with wellness at its center. We all know eating well, being active, and staying on top of well checks with your Galen providers are critical components of wellness; however, there is so much more to good health than a healthy body.

During the month of September, we want to encourage our patients to find ways to enjoy life and make the most of their days. Maybe you always wanted to take a dance class? Perhaps you can find a digital one online to try. How about taking up a new hobby like baking or yoga? What’s stopping you? Let Healthy Aging Month be your invitation to do all the things you’ve never been able to make a priority before.
