Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology
D. Scott Harnsberger, MD, FACOG, is a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology at Galen OB/GYN Ridgeside. He is a native of Chattanooga and attended McCallie School. He completed his bachelor’s degree in history and political science at Emory University. He went to Medical School at the University of Tennessee and completed his residency at the University of Florida.
Dr. Harnsberger has been in practice for 19 years and is affiliated with the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and the Tennessee Medical Association. He has privileges at Parkridge, Parkridge East, and Erlanger Hospitals. Dr. Harnsberger pursued medicine because it offers him the opportunity to use his intellect and gifts to demonstrate God’s love through kind and compassionate care for others. He chose to specialize in OB/GYN because it offers a nice mix of medicine and surgery with the addition of obstetrics. OB/GYN is also about relationships. He enjoys getting to know his patients and becoming friends with them over many years of their life. His favorite part about his job is getting to develop meaningful relationships with patients, their families, and his nurses. His care philosophy is centered around caring for and treating my patients as if they were his mother, wife, or daughters.
When away from the office, Dr. Harnsberger can be found spending time with his wife and seven children. In his free time, he enjoys doing yard work and going out on the boat or playing a nice round of golf. His favorite thing about Chattanooga is the small-town feel.
