Dr. Yolanda Spraggins is a Galen physician specializing in pediatrics. As a child, Dr. Spraggins was moved by a story about children in Africa who needed medical attention, and this spurred her passion for medicine. She is driven by a love for treating children, helping their parents learn best practices, and watching her patients grow and flourish.
After obtaining a B.A. in Biology at the University of Pennsylvania, Dr. Spraggins went on to continue her education at the Duke University School of Medicine. She followed up medical school with a residency in pediatrics at the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, after which she joined the Galen Pediatrics team. She’s been in practice now for 23 years.
Dr. Spraggins cares a great deal about the patient experience, and always wants her patients and their families to feel heard. “I think I like for my patients and their families to feel comfortable, and comfortable asking questions,” she said. “I like to take my time with each patient, and make sure the parents have their questions answered. To let them know I’m concerned, and care about their child.”
In her spare time, Dr. Spraggins enjoys spending time with her son and husband of 17 years, as well as reading, crafts, and traveling. Though she’s a Detroit native, she loves calling Chattanooga home, and enjoys the gorgeous views this city has to offer.
She is affiliated with the Hamilton County Medical Society, Mountain City Medical Society, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Tennessee Academy of Pediatrics. She is also affiliated with the Parkridge and Erlanger Health Systems locally.
