Karen Tinsley, MSN, FNP-BC

Specialist in Gynecology

Karen Tinsley, MSN, FNP-BC, is a board-certified family nurse practitioner at Galen OB/GYN Ridgeside. Karen was born and raised in Chickamauga, GA. Born and raised in the area, she attended UTC for both her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing and Masters of Science in Nursing along with her ANCC Certification.

Her interest in Nursing and specifically in women’s health came from her mom, who worked as a public health nurse in family planning. Karen worked with her mom in these programs during her summer vacations and holidays between college semesters. Her favorite part of her job is educating women on health and wellness and counseling on the normal process of aging.

She has been in practice as a Family Nurse Practitioner in a private OB/GYN setting since 2010. Prior to that, she worked as a public health nurse in family planning, STD, HIV, and TB programs. Her specialties include Hormone Replacement Therapy, Urodynamic testing for incontinence/bladder issues, and teen health. Karen’s public health experience set the stage for her care philosophy of empathy. She strives to understand the needs of the patients and provides care tailored for each situation.

In her free time, Karen enjoys traveling to new places, attending music festivals, yoga, reading, and trail running. She also enjoys hanging out with her two “young adult” children when they are available. Her favorite things about Chattanooga in the beautiful scenery and the mountain trails.
