Sarah Harris, M.D., FACOG

Specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology

A LITTLE ABOUT ME

Dr. Sarah Harris was born and raised in Chattanooga and is happy to be back in her hometown. Her interest in medicine started as early as elementary school. However, it was not until her rotations in medical school that she even considered the field of OB/GYN. After attending Baylor School, she attended East Tennessee State University where she graduated summa cum laude with her bachelor of science in biology and philosophy. She graduated summa cum laude with her doctorate of medicine from Quillen College of Medicine in Johnson City, Tennessee where she received the Glasgow-Rubin Achievement Award, presented to a woman graduating as valedictorian of her medical school class.

Dr. Harris completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology (OB/GYN) at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. While there, Dr. Harris received numerous awards for teaching, including the Emery Wilson Medical Student Teaching Award. After completing her residency, Dr. Harris joined a private practice in Knoxville, Tennessee where she also served as a Clinical Instructor for the University of Tennessee OB/GYN residency program.

As a board-certified OB/GYN physician, Dr. Harris sees the privilege she has to be alongside women and families during such a special time. Despite the long hours, she never tires of celebrating a new life as it enters the world. In Gynecology, they are able to help women improve their quality of life through preventive care and treatment of a variety of issues that affect their daily wellbeing. She loves working with her patients to find solutions that fit each individual’s needs.

Dr. Harris is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. She has been selected for the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society for professionalism, scholarship and leadership and was peer-selected for the Gold Humanism Honor Society for excellence in clinical care, compassion, leadership, and service. Her professional interests include obstetrics and all aspects of prenatal care, adolescent gynecology, abnormal uterine bleeding, and gynecologic surgery.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family and dogs. Any chance she gets outside, she spends time working in their yard or by the lake. She loves the beauty of the river and mountains in Chattanooga.
