BOTOX® Cosmetic is a simple, non-surgical, physician-administered treatment that can temporarily smooth moderate to severe frown lines between the brows. Botox can also be injected in the forehead and the crow’s feet. Available to people between 18 to 65 years of age, it is the only treatment of its type approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
Clostridium botulinum, the substance from which Botox is derived, is found in many natural settings, including soil, lakes, and forests.
Botox is the trade name for the substance injected into the skin which is known to inhibit muscle movement, and that can prevent wrinkles from developing or worsening.
Botox injections are now one of the most popular cosmetic treatments in the world and there are a plethora of celebs who are rumoured as swearing by youth-keeping injections.
And while it is immensely popular for aesthetic purposes, Botox is actually pretty handy for other conditions too, including stopping excessive sweat.
Before the procedure
Most people tolerate the injection discomfort well. But you may want your skin to be numbed beforehand, especially if your palms or soles are being treated for excessive sweating. Your doctor might use one or more of various methods available to numb the area, such as topical anesthesia, ice and vibration anesthesia, which uses massage to reduce discomfort.
During the procedure
Your doctor uses a thin needle to inject tiny amounts of botulinum toxin into your skin or muscles. The number of injections needed depends on many factors, including the extent of the area being treated. Botox injections are usually done in a doctor’s office.
After the procedure
Expect to resume your normal daily activities right after the procedure. Take care, though, not to rub or massage the treated areas. This can cause the toxin to migrate to a different area.
JUVÉDERM® is the selling collection of hyaluronic acid fillers in the US. Each product in the JUVÉDERM® collection of fillers adds volume to a different area of the face to lift cheeks, smooth parentheses lines, or plump the lips. The results are subtle and long-lasting.
Over time, your skin loses elasticity, which contributes to moderate to severe parentheses lines and wrinkles around the nose and mouth. While serums and creams work on the skin’s surface, JUVÉDERM® XC and JUVÉDERM VOLLURE™ XC add volume to smooth these lines and folds, to help give you the subtle, long-lasting results you want.
Wrinkles and lines aren’t the only signs of aging. Over time, the cheeks flatten, and the skin may begin to sag. This is caused by a natural loss of volume in the cheek area, or what the experts call age-related midface volume loss. JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® XC is designed to add volume beneath the skin’s surface to lift and contour the cheek area.
Some people simply have naturally thin lips and just want to achieve a fuller appearance. Other people have noticed their lips thinning over time and may also have seen vertical lip lines become more noticeable. Whatever your unique needs are when it comes to your lips, the JUVÉDERM® collection may be able to help.
If you’re interested in a nonsurgical way to reduce submental fullness, also known as double chin, KYBELLA® may be right for you. KYBELLA® is a first-of-its-kind injectable treatment for adults with submental fullness that destroys fat cells under the chin to improve your profile
Actual patients. Unretouched photos taken before treatment and after final treatment. Not all treatments shown. Individual results may vary. Multiple injections under the chin per treatment; up to 6 treatments spaced at least 1 month apart. 59% of patients received 6 KYBELLA® treatments in clinical studies. Treatment is tailored to the amount of fat under the chin and aesthetic goals. 68.2% of patients treated with KYBELLA® in 2 clinical studies had some/moderately better improvement, compared with 20.5% of patients treated with placebo (70% vs 18.6% in Study 1, 66.5% vs 22.2% in Study 2). 16% of patients treated with KYBELLA® in 2 clinical studies had significant/a great deal better improvement, compared with 2% of patients treated with placebo (13.4% vs less than 0% in Study 1, 18.6% vs 3% in Study 2).
The active ingredient in KYBELLA® is synthetic deoxycholic acid. Deoxycholic acid is a naturally occurring molecule in the body that aids in the breakdown and absorption of dietary fat. When injected into the fat beneath the chin, KYBELLA® destroys fat cells, resulting in a noticeable reduction in fullness under the chin. Once destroyed, these cells can no longer store or accumulate fat, so further treatment is not expected once you reach your desired aesthetic goal.
Before starting treatment, your healthcare specialist will examine the area under and around your chin to determine if KYBELLA® is right for you. Then, your specialist will tailor your treatment to the amount of fat under the chin and your aesthetic goals.
Treatment can only be administered by a KYBELLA®-trained healthcare specialist. At each treatment, you will receive multiple small injections under your chin, and the injection process takes about 15 to 20 minutes. The exact number of injections will depend on the amount of fat you have under your chin and your desired profile.
Since everyone’s chin profile is different, the number of treatments varies from patient to patient. Your healthcare specialist will help determine how many treatment sessions you need based on the amount and distribution of your submental fat and your personal treatment goals. Each KYBELLA® treatment session is given at least 1 month apart, and you should not receive more than 6 treatments. In clinical studies, 59% of patients received 6 treatments.
