Specialist in Gynecology

Lauren Barlew, MSN, WHNP-BC, is a board-certified women’s health nurse practitioner at Galen OB/GYN Ridgeside. She grew up in Signal Mountain and attended Girls Preparatory School. She obtained her Bachelor’s in Science in Nursing from the University of Tennessee Chattanooga. For the first few years after graduating, Lauren worked at a local hospital where she discovered her passion for women’s health. She went on to gain her Masters of Science in Nursing degree from Vanderbilt University in 2012 along with dual certification as a Women’s Health and Adult Nurse Practitioner.

Lauren has always known that she wanted to care for people. She has always been interested in women’s healthcare and supporting women through the changes throughout their lifespan. Her special clinical interests include women’s sexual health, hormone replacement therapy, and contraceptive management. She has been practicing for nine years, and her favorite part of her job is having the opportunity to educate and empower women to make the best decisions about their health and wellness. Her care philosophy is to ensure that her patients feel comfortable, supported, to be sure that they are given time to discuss concerns that are often very personal.

When she is not working, she loves to travel and explore with her husband and two daughters. She enjoys outdoor activities including hiking and biking. Her favorite thing about Chattanooga is the natural beauty of the city and the surrounding areas. She believes that the size of the city and the amenities are ideal for raising a family.
