Specialist in Family Medicine
Michael Edging is a board-certified Nurse Practitioner with the Galen Medical Group. Michael grew up in east Tennessee and went to High School at Hixson High School. He joined the Tennessee Army National Guard to serve his country. After returning from Desert Storm, he enrolled at Chattanooga State Technical Community College and earned his Associate degree in Nursing. Michael worked in the emergency department and intensive care unit for a few years prior to enrolling at East Tennessee State University for his Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
With a bachelor’s degree in hand, he rejoined the military as an officer with the US Air Force. During his career in the Air Force, he worked in the emergency department, flight nursing, and family practice. In 2007 he earned a coveted program in which the US Air Force sent him to graduate school.
Michael graduated in August 2009 with a Master’s degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner and a Post-Master’s Degree as an Emergency & Trauma Clinical Nurse Specialist. Michael specializes in family, urgent, and emergency care. He has 27 years of experience as a registered nurse and 13 years of experience as a Family Nurse Practitioner. He partners with patients to maximize outcomes and practices with compassion while employing evidence-based practice to yield a holistic experience for the patient.
Outside of work, Michael loves to travel and has been around the United States and the world. He is married with two children and is happy to start putting roots down in Chattanooga. He spends most of his time enjoying retirement after 26 years of service, fixing up his home, and being close to family once again.
